Cape Breton-Canso-Antigonish needs a leader who gets it.
Your Concerns Are My Priorities
Over the past six months, I’ve racked up over 20,000 kilometres traveling across the entire riding—from Neil’s Harbour to Louisbourg to Goldboro. I believe you can’t stay at home if you want to know what’s on people’s minds. And I’ve learned a lot. You’ve explained what’s important, and I’ve had the honour of listening to those concerns.
• Carbon Tax: Repeal the carbon tax, which disproportionately impacts rural communities like ours.
• Housing: Support solutions that allow more affordable homes to be built for our young and old.
• Economic Growth: Support tax reforms that allow those wanting to work hard to actually see the dollar value in that effort.
• Protect Fishing Industry: Enforce laws against illegal fishing, uphold the rights of licensed fishers, and safeguard livelihoods and ecosystems.
• Connectivity: Improve connectivity to ensure safety, support remote work, and enable businesses to thrive across all corners of our riding.
• Gun Control: Crack down on illegal guns but leave our hunters, farmers, and sport shooters alone.
Pledge
I believe in a future where Cape Breton – Canso – Antigonish thrives economically, socially, and culturally. While we are already thriving socially and culturally, economically there is much hard work to do. That future requires strong leadership - someone who not only understands the challenges but has the experience to overcome them.
I watched my dad, Dr. Alastair MacLeod, recruit dental professionals to Cape Breton. I also learned from my in-laws, the MacLeod family of Dunvegan, who, for over 50 years as operators of MacLeods Beach and Campsite and the Inverness Beach Village, faced the challenges of being business owners, particularly seasonal business owners.
For Cape Breton – Canso – Antigonish to grow and thrive, we need to get rid of the most incompetent and corrupt government in Canadian history.
And once that is done the new Conservative MP for Cape Breton – Canso – Antigonish will have to work very hard to promote the interests of the people of this riding.
You can see from this campaign for the Conservative nomination that I am not afraid of hard work and my experience in government in Ottawa gives me an advantage in getting things done for Cape Breton – Canso – Antigonish.
